Tagua , also known as "Vegetable Ivory" comes from the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Jaime Penaherrera has turned these highly resilient and dense dried nuts into fun jewelry and animal carvings. Jaime was born and raised in Ecuador and is very familiar with the Tagua palm trees and the environment in which they grow. When speaking with Jamie, you can hear the passion he has for using Eco-friendly materials.
Vegetable Ivory eliminates the need for animal ivory, as it closely resembles the cellular structure. Not only do these Tagua products help protect endangered species that are hunted for their ivory, it also protects the rainforest from deforestation. Jamie has provided the Made Local Marketplace with an actual raw Tagua seed
that you can check out while looking at his beautiful display of work, it is very fascinating to see the raw material that these wonderful pieces came from.

The Made Local Marketplace welcomes Laura Brazier as one of our newest makers in the store. Laura makes infinity wraps, these functional pieces of jewelry can be worn as a necklace, bracelet or an anklet...she has even seen them worn as a belt!
Laura has been making jewelry for over twenty years, she has lived here in Santa Rosa for the past three years, and is originally from Michigan.
When asked what style she considers her jewelry Laura replied, " bohemian chic, organic". Her beautifully unique pieces are hand knotted and adorned with semi-precious stones, glass, wood and recycled vintage beads.
These new infinity wraps are a must see, they just arrived in the store yesterday and we are certain they are going to fly off the shelves. Whether you're shopping for yourself, or you are still searching for a great Mother's Day gift, we've got just what you are looking for.
Mother's Day is ten days away and like most of us, you are probably in search of a great gift this year. When shopping for the special women in your life whether it is your mom, aunt, sister or maybe even your grandmother, it always means so much to find something personal and unique.
At the Made Local Marketplace we have a great selection of gifts for everyone on your list this Mother's Day. For that one person who may seem especially hard to shop for, why not consider giving them a gift certificate to the Made Local Marketplace? A gift certificate is a great way to let someone know that you were thinking of them, and know them so well that they would have a wonderful time coming into the shop and picking something out!
